About the Foundation
The beginnings....
Early 2006, Melody Gullett (owner of Just Driver Training and Karl Logan from North Carolina discussed the lack of access that youth in foster care and those aging out of the foster care programs in Georgia had in obtaining a driver’s license due to lack of funds or access to training in this life skill.
The Driver Education Foundation of America (DEFA) chartered on July 16th, 2007 aiming to provide scholarships and opportunity for youth to obtain their driver’s licenses in the Georgia.
DEFA's plan would be to partner with licensed driving schools in Georgia to provide training for youth that met requirements for scholarships. The result would be phenomenal as this would open the doors of opportunity for youth to fulfil positions that required driving skills either in the transportation industry, food or consumer product delivery service industry or motor dealerships.
